Transport Canada Approves eBee X for Operations Over People

Transport Canada

CartoCanada is proud to be the official Canadian distributor of senseFly fixed-wing drones. senseFly has always been at the forefront of safety and innovation in the industry and having the eBee X gain the approval for operations over people from Transport Canada is just another reason why they continue to be is the most popular fixed-wing drone company in US and France.

This is a huge milestone for the senseFly eBee X and this will impact drone pilots across Canada in such a positive way, and operating the eBee X over people will allow pilots to expand their mapping services and use the eBee X to the full potential and capabilities of Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) flights.

CartoCanada proudly offers not only the senseFly eBee X but also the eBee Plus, eBee SQ and eBee Classic which have all passed the strict safety requirements outlined by Transport Canada that make it legal for pilots to fly and operate these drones over people.

The senseFly eBee X had to meet the following criteria in order to receive the designation:

Protections against Injury to Persons on the Ground

  • No single failure of the RPAS may result in a severe injury to a person on the ground within 5 m horizontal of the RPA in operation.
  • The occurrence of any combination of failures of the RPAS which may result in a severe injury to a person on the ground within 5 m horizontal of the RPA in operation must be shown to be remote.

Warning and Alerts

  • Systems, controls, and associated monitoring and warning means must be designed to minimize RPAS pilot errors that could create additional hazards.

Being senseFly’s official Canadian distributor, CartoCanada looks forward to working with the company that is always at the leading edge of innovation and safety in the fixed-wing drone industry.
